How to Design and Write a Brochure That Is Exciting to Read
August 10, 2010
Brochures are meant to be read and not to be ignored by customers. To make sure your marketing tools appeal to your target audience, you need to give them good reasons to do so. From the moment they receive your brochures, customers should feel the urge to turn the pages to know more about your products or services.
You can do this by adding exciting elements on your marketing materials. Here’s how to design and write a brochure that customers would love to read:
Tips on How to Design and Write a Brochure that Gets Read
Write a very catchy headline.
Lead customers’ eyes to your brochures by putting an intriguing headline on the cover. Adding excitement at the beginning ensures that customers will demand for more information, thus increasing your brochure’s readability. State a common problem that customers may have and tell them to open the brochure to find the solution. Try a humorous headline that will appeal to readers or an intriguing statement that will trigger their curiosity.
Use colors that pop out.
Remember that having a professional image doesn’t mean you always have to stick with dark colors like black or brown. Instead, try blending happy colors that complement each other or make a bright color stand out by mixing it with a dark and solid background. Include photos that speak.
If you want to let clients know how comfortable your hotel rooms are, say it with pictures. Photos can support your message and vividly shows the benefits you are selling. Plus, pictures can also serve as the reader’s “break” from all the text written on your brochures. They provide visual entertainment to make your marketing tools more reader-friendly and interesting.
Opt for an unconventional fold.
A brochure fold that is new to your customer’s eyes will definitely make the reading experience more fun and engaging. Take a break from the traditional tri-fold brochures and give your promotional tools a little makeover by using a custom fold brochure. Talk to your printer about the brochure folding options they offer and make your decision from there.

Communicate using a language that speaks directly to the reader.
Clients won’t waste their time reading a brochure that is full of jargon. They might even be intimidated by your writing if you use technical terms frequently. Make reading your brochures a fun and informative experience by using words that you would use in a normal conversation with a customer. By speaking directly to your customers, you’ll be able to establish an emotional connection with them. Once you’re able to connect with them, it will be easier to convince your customers to do what you want them to do.
